Industry Bodies
The Resort Development Organisation (RDO) was founded in 1998 as OTE (Organisation for Timeshare in Europe) to improve representation for reputable companies in the timeshare sector across Europe and promote fair trading, quality and growth within the timeshare industry. RDO also provides consumers with information via websites and help lines and offers a mediation service.
Vacation Ownership Association of Southern Africa VOASA, previously known as the Timeshare Institute of Southern Africa, was established in 1990 as an organisation representing the interests of the respective stakeholders with its primary objective being to “create, maintain and develop an environment within which the long-term viability and growth of vacation ownership through shared vacation ownership can be optimally ensured.”
Fundamental to the existence of VOASA, is its ability to self regulate and control the industry in such a manner that the national authorities, via the Department of Trade & Industry, is confident of its ongoing ability to manage and deliver a mature industry that instils confidence within all stakeholders and is positively perceived by the consumer at large.
AIRDA – All India Resort Development Association is an independent, non-profit advisory body dedicated to the Indian timeshare and holiday ownership industry. In 1998, a visionary group of resort developers and RCI inked a blueprint for an independent body – an association with a purpose and an agenda – keeping in mind the nascent profile of timeshare in the country and the constructive role that could be played by developers to grow the industry. Also, importantly, to work hand-in-hand with both promoters and consumers. This was how the foundation was laid for the All India Resort Development Association (AIRDA).

International
The American Resort Development Association is the professional association representing the holiday ownership and resort development industries in the US. Established in 1969, ARDA today has nearly 1,000 corporate members ranging from privately held firms to publicly traded companies and international corporations with expertise in shared ownership interests in leisure real estate. The membership also includes timeshare owner associations (HOAs), resort management companies, and owners through the ARDA Resort Owners Coalition (ARDA-ROC).
The CRDA is the industry-based association dedicated to furthering the holiday ownership industry, both in Canada and throughout the world. It was founded over 20 years ago as “the Resort Timesharing Council of Canada” in response to the public’s insatiable demand for more information about typical “fee simple” (or “deeded”) timeshare products. With the advent of flexible, leisure creative products CRDA has evolved to become the pre-eminent industry association responsible for overseeing all forms of Vacation Ownership in Canada.
